This review covers the Godiva Dessert Truffles in the flavors of Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Lava Cake and Creme Brulee (shown left to right in the photo). They all come together in a convenient package that can be purchased at various non-Godiva locations.
If you are familiar with the truffles sold in Godiva salons, these are about half the size, and they come wrapped individually. These absolutely do not disappoint! Each variety tastes almost exactly like its namesake. When you try the Creme Brulee, you will feel like you’re eating creme brulee—not a creme brulee truffle. These are all amazing in their ability to perfectly mimic the desserts they are made for.
Chocolate Truffles Look Like the Real Dessert
In fact, they even appear somewhat like their respective desserts. The strawberry cheesecake version looks like a little cheesecake piece with strawberry filling on top, surrounded by chocolate. The creme brulee variety has caramel on the top layer, with a light-colored bottom filling, and the molten lava looks an awful lot like chocolate lava inside.
These desserts can make a great gift for someone else or for yourself, as they are basically a gourmet chocolate.
It is nice to see chocolatiers like Godiva offering selections such as this at convenience stores. Let’s hope other chocolatiers follow suit (at least those who have not already started doing so).
