Everybody has seen Ferrero Rochers at the store. They are easy to pick out, being the round chocolates wrapped in gold. They are available at places from grocery stores to drugstores to convenience stores all over. At the checkout, you can often find a three pack conveniently placed near the tabloids. They are not what you would consider inexpensive but are not necessarily expensive, either—if you normally buy chocolate candy bars, these would be a treat for you.

Great for Chocolate and Hazelnut Lovers

These are especially great chocolates for those who like hazelnut. Ferrero Rocher’s website describes them as “chocolatey cream surrounding a whole hazelnut without a delicate, crisp wafer…all enveloped in milk chocolate and finely chopped hazelnuts.” It’s hard to give a better description than that. Interestingly, “rocher” means “rock” in French. Don’t let that fool you, however, as these are very soft pieces overall, with their only crunchiness coming from the hazelnut.

The hazelnut really is the main feature of these chocolates; with these candies, the hazelnut is the main element, much as the ganache would be a main element in a truffle. If you don’t like chocolate that is too sweet nor too bitter, Ferrero Rochers are a good choice.
