Although Chocolate en Masse is not a recipe site per se, no chocolate website would be complete without mention of some notable Death by Chocolate recipes—so here’s a baker’s dozen of some of the most chocoholic-worthy recipes around. We haven’t tried these recipes, but it was impossible not to share them, since they look like some of the most tempting versions of Death by Chocolate out there! Ludlab Torta (or Death by Chocolate and Maraschino Cherries)

This consists of several layers of chocolateness: chocolate sponge cake, a truffle layer, chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache.

Death by Chocolate Cake (Bennigan’s Copycat)

This recipe makes use of chocolate mousse and chocolate cake mix, as well as kahlua. Being described as a “Bennigan’s copycat,” it’s likely to be worth trying!

Chocolate & Hazelnut Salted Butter Caramel Cake

With another “Death by Chocolate Cake” title, this recipe’s webpage takes its subject seriously, featuring subheadings such as “to assemble the weapon” (putting all the pieces together—the caramel sauce, hazelnuts and all).

Death by Chocolate Poke Cake

A lot of chocolate is featured in this cake: dark chocolate cake mix, dark chocolate pudding mix, dark chocolate topping and a dark chocolate candy bar.

Death by Chocolate a la Trellis

The website for this recipe notes that it is “not meant to be eaten or baked by the faint of heart.” It features cocoa meringue, chocolate mousse, a chocolate brownie layer, chocolate ganache, mocha mousse and mocha rum sauce. While the link to the recipe is above, you can see a photo of it here.

Death by Chocolate Macaroons

A lot of Death by Chocolate recipes are for cakes—but other kinds of chocolate foods can qualify for “Death by Chocolate” status, too! These macaroons definitely look like they fit the bill in the non-cake category.

Death by Chocolate (a drink)

For those interested in chocolate liquors, this drink from Smirnoff includes vodka, Irish cream and Godiva liquor.

Death by Chocolate (an ice cream and cake combination)

This chocolatey recipe features chocolate ice cream, melted chocolate and chocolate cake at the same time.

Death by Chocolate Cupcakes

Cupcakes are all the rage, so it is only right to include these! These dark chocolate cupcakes are made with semi-sweet chocolate and cocoa powder (among other ingredients) and have dark chocolate frosting with semi-sweet chocolate chips.

These look really decadent, with their chocolate sprinkles and Hershey’s kisses on top—and luckily they don’t look too hard to make, using refrigerated cookie dough plus cocoa powder.
