Trader Joe’s Chocolate Pecan Pie Bar

Image of Trader Joe's Pumpkin Pie BarTrader Joe’s Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars are definitely a seasonal treat for fall. This is one of those items where it sounds like it would be great or gross — and luckily, it’s the former.

The term “bar” is used for these, though the back of the packaging explains that these are really basically a tart, which they are. Bars are typically a little more like a cookie consistency, but these are very soft, similar to a pecan pie filling.

The Important Part: The Chocolate

It may seem difficult to fuse chocolate successfully into a pecan pie, but Trader Joe’s definitely pulls it off. Where a normal pecan pie would have the usual pecan pie filling that’s rather mushy, the Chocolate Pecan Pie Bar has a “chocolatized” version. Somehow, you do taste the chocolate in it; and it’s a different consistency than a regular pecan pie filling, being somewhere between a brownie and chocolate mousse texture.

The taste of the filling is also kind of reminiscent of a mousse, as well, without the extra richness of a chocolate mousse.

Pecan Pie + Chocolate = Yum

For those who don’t like pecan pie, this is probably not going to be a great choice, though it may still be worth a shot. However, for those who do like pecan pie — and chocolate — this is the perfect fusion for fall.
