Krusteaz’s Chocolate Swirl Crumb Cake & Muffin Mix combines two beloved ideas: crumb cake and chocolate. So, how does this mixture fare? Luckily, it turns out very well—and if you’re a crumb cake fan as well as a chocolate fan, this mix allows you to get the best of both worlds.
It’s very easy to make this mix. You can choose between a crumb cake and muffin version; we opted for the muffins, but the mixture is still the same, and there’s really no difference in preparation.
The Chocolate Factor
The most chocolate flavor comes from the chocolate pieces in the cake itself, rather than from the crumb topping. Do not be fooled, however—the chocolate pieces in the cake do not disappoint.
As far as the topping, it is not a typical crumb topping, as in a brown sugar and cinnamon topping. It tastes a bit of cinnamon but is not as strongly cinnamon as a typical crumb cake, which probably wouldn’t go that well with a chocolate-themed mix, anyway.
This mix is extremely easy to make, and if you’re into sweet breakfast items, it is definitely worth a try!
